The materials desk / Purchasing guide
From a stage opening
to a clear brief.
The right request describes the installation, not only the textile. Use this checklist to gather the details your venue and production team need to confirm.
01 / Finished coverage
Measure the space first.
Record the opening width and the finished drop from the intended hanging point. Separate finished curtain coverage from raw fabric quantity. Fullness, overlap, hems and joins can change the material requirement.
| Record | Include in your brief | Confirm before order |
|---|---|---|
| Width & drop | Finished dimensions with units | Coverage, clearance and any overlap |
| Hanging arrangement | Track, attachment points or existing mounting method | Header finish and hardware compatibility |
| Panel layout | Number of panels, openings and joins | Fullness, seam placement and hem allowance |
| Fabric length | Required cut length and intended finish | Usable width, quantity unit and cutting plan |
Include a sketch or drawing with your enquiry when it helps explain the arrangement. Do not use a product image as a dimensional reference.
02 / Material review
Ask beyond the color.
- Surface: ask about composition, weight, pile direction and visible texture.
- Light: confirm opacity and the effect of planned front or back lighting. An image cannot establish light-blocking behavior.
- Construction: discuss edges, hems, seams and whether a curtain or raw fabric length suits the project.
- Color: monitor settings and lighting affect appearance. Ask about sample availability and batch matching.
- Venue requirements: share the applicable documentation and requirements with the team. No treatment, certification or suitability should be assumed from this catalogue.
03 / Purchasing checklist
A request the team can review.
List product names, quantities, dimensions, intended use, mounting details, delivery location and the date you are working toward. Clearly distinguish requirements from preferences.
- Choose the catalogue items and add them to the request bag.
- Review each line and use order notes for cut lengths, finished dimensions and technical questions.
- Send the order request with your contact details.
- Wait for availability, delivery and payment details to be confirmed before proceeding.
Catalogue prices are not a complete installed-project estimate. Ask about any finishing, hardware, delivery or other requirements that are not specified in the product listing.
